The Two Worst Heresies in Homeschool Culture: EXPOSED!!!
The strong morals of homeschool culture are very appealing to those who, seeking to glorify God in this present age with the abilities and talents they have been given, have found homeschooling to be a good way to go about doing those things.
However, there exist certain ideologies within the Homeschool movement which are patently unbiblical – damned by a single bible verse. Beware of these grievous false teachings, and run at first sight of them!
“Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons, through the insincerity of liars whose consciences are seared, who forbid marriage and require abstinence from foods that God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.” – 1 Timothy 4:1-3
Now, what does it sound like these verses are condemning?
It's obvious! Trim Healthy Mama and Courtship!
Leading Bible Scholars are rushing to combat these grievous heresies, while homeschooling mothers, inundated with traditions of men, scramble to deny the obvious. Trim Healthy Mama and Courtship are legalistic ideas.
Take a good, hard look at the biblical text above. Note how the Apostle explicitly decries those who forbid marriage. Now, what do you suppose proponents of courtship regularly do? You guessed it – they forbid marriage – at least to any person you actually love.
Now let’s have a look at Trim Healthy Mama. THM is a most dastardly form of legalism, practically forcing you to eat everything you hate and not eat everything you like. The Word of God plainly states that ALL food is to be received with thankfulness (1 Tim. 4:4), and that the opposing of dietary regulations is a doctrine of demons (see 4:2). So clearly, THM is legalism at it’s worst. Stay far, FAR away!
When this story went to press homeschool moms everywhere were coming up with a new verse to press on with; "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a strong mama!
