5-year-old Homeschooled Girl Wins National Virtue Competition

WASHINGTON D.C. - Edith Fuller wasn’t the only five year old homeschooler to distinguish herself on the Competition front last week. The Championship for All things Praiseworthy (C.A.P.) was held in Washington on Friday.

C.A.P. organizer Kelly Lonner says they hold one every year, but this was the first time someone under 12 years old had taken the prize.

“There are several events,” Lonner explained. “We have a kindness contest, a working cheerfully contest, a strength of spirit contest, and one where contestants compete for who can ask the smartest, most meaningful questions.”

There were three homeschoolers participating in the Competition Friday. The other two could spell “jnana” and do math problems like nobody’s business. But the grand prize was taken by just a five year old girl, Frances Copp.

“I heartily congratulate Frances,” Lonner said, “and her hard-working mother who knew what was important.”
