Homeschoolers Push for Age of Empires to be Mandatory Curriculum in Schools

Age Of Empires

A well known fact is the inclusion of the games Age of Empires (1997) and Age of Empires II (1999) in the curriculum of many homeschoolers for the purposes of teaching history.

"I have never seen a history course as good as this one, I plan on teaching all of my fourteen kids to use this," said Barbara Simmons, a homeschooling mom.

Now, thousands of homeschoolers in Canada and the United States are calling for Age of Empires to be mandatory in private and public schools everywhere, insisting that the history courses which are being used now are "inadequate" and "plain out bad".

Molly Waters, mother of seven kids, explains: "Even though public schools are obviously bad, and even evil, thousands and millions of kids are educated through them, and we have to realize that. Since most history courses they use in the schools now are awful, we think that using Age of Empires would be a massive improvement."

Teenage homeschooler Cindy Patton has more: "It's not that this will solve the public school problem, but it will certainly help. Because, anything that makes them more like homeschooling is better, right?"

Teachers are skeptical and are seeking to keep Age of Empires out of the schools, but most kids are embracing the possibility of the game being added to their curriculum.
