Family Finally Finishes Undecorating Their Christmas Tree

It all started on January second, when Jimmy Nelson suggested they take the tree down that day. The Nelson family started on the job that afternoon, and this morning they finally unwound the last string of lights and chucked it out the door.

“We had fifteen boxes of ornaments to take off of that tree,” Anna Nelson said. “It was an exciting day when one of the kids announced they could see a branch.” She says they had gotten pretty tired of the job by the end. “I would call up the stairs in the morning, ‘time to rise and shine! It’s another day of unhooking and packing little sleighs and snowmen!’ and they would groan and beg to just throw the decorations out with the tree. I would have liked to do that as well, but there were the lights to be thought of.” She says that it was Wednesday before they finally got down through the layers to the lights. “But now it’s all done,” she said, beaming. “I think we’ll try and cut down on the number of ornaments next year.”

Jimmy Nelson smiled at this, and went outside to look at a bonfire he was tending.
